NUTRITION
Changing Habits Can Be Hard
It is hard when a person endeavors to change their health
by improving their nutrition. It is hard to retrain
patterns that have been ingrained in us for years. This
is why it is so important to {start kids out right} because what they grow up eating is what they will
generally choose to do for the rest of THEIR life.
It is important to note that if a person is going to
change dietary habits the whole house should be prepared
to change. Everyone from mom and dad on down should be on
board for the change. If for some reason a spouse is not
supportive, it does make it difficult to keep the changes
implemented. In today's day and age, divorced families
are common. It is more difficult because what one may
choose to do with the kids and nutrition may be radically
different that what the spouse wants to do. If this is
the case, you always do the best that YOU can and do the
most possible. If you cant make all of the changes,
look to parts of the basics first. Then pick your battles from there.
Compromise MAY have to happen. It will take EDUCATION on
WHY the changes are important to occur.
We will challenge you to put aside your preconceived
notions of what is healthy and not healthy and be open
minded to change. Look at the facts and evaluate the
value after you hear all the details.
For some people change can happen over night. They put
their mind to in and the change occurs. For others, the
changes will be gradual. Perhaps taking a year or more to
fully integrate changes into their life style.
The other VITAL DETAIL is that anything you do should NOT
be a DIET Changing your LIFESTYLE to
incorporate the healthy choices is what needs to occur.
Literally you will be changing your CHOICES and by doing
that, changing your life.
When dealing with children it takes them seeing a parent
doing the same thing they are. An easy way to introduce
the changes is to say: This is what is healthy for
our bodies and this is what our family does.
Children will test you to see if you are serious. They
dont know that fast food is junk food. They have to
be taught. They will push every button to eat junk food.
You have to be a positive role model and stick to your
guns. Provide healthy food to them and have it available.
If they CHOOSE not to eat they have that choice. It is
amazing though, that when they get hungry they will eat.
It is not child abuse to have healthy food for them to
eat and they choose not to eat. It is wrong, though, to
give kids poor quality food because that is all
they will eat. Their good health depends on you
TEACHING them.
Stick with it
You and future generations have the
world of health to gain!
