Patient Success Stories
Here are more success stories from our office.  We'd love to hear yours!

74 year old female, after 1 month of care, stated feeling better than she has in a long time.

Pregnant mom notes back pain much better with this pregnancy than last since having regular chiropractic care.

1 hour after adjustment male patients reported he felt a thousand times better from a headache.

After 3 visits patient reports no more lower back pain!

Female athlete with knee pain notes pain gone after knee adjustment.

Patient had beginnings of a migraine but gone after adjustment. Same patient reported sleeping better and less sore overall. Also menstral cycle normally was bad and is now better with care.

Female patient reports jaw pain much improved after jaw muscle work.

Patient woke up next morning after adjustment with absolutely no pain!

70 year old female presented with pain down her leg and in her lower back. Reported it cleared in a few days after her adjustment.

Mother noted after watching Chiropratic Video (available at the office), that she is doing chiropractic for life for her and her kids as she saw how vital it was to her health.

Mother reported baby was fussy and not feeding on right side when nursing.  After the baby was adjusted, mom notes baby is peaceful now and feeding on both sides.

Female patient reports her balance was back within a few hours after 1st adjustment.  Almost feels like herself again.

Patient reports knee pain was throbbing all day instantly better after adjustment.

Male patient reported sinuses opened up immediately after adjustment.

Male patient reports no headaches after a week of chiropractic care and had suffered with them for 4 years.  He also reported not waking up with them any more.

All of these patients above had one thing in common... they had subluxations that were preventing their bodies from working properly. They did not know they had subluxations because subluxations are usually painless and have no symptoms themselves. They subluxations were keeping them from being as healthy as they could have and should have been.

Health is natural. If you know of someone who is not as healthy as they should be, recommend they have their spine checked for subluxations by a chiropractor today! And above all - if you know of someone with a child or have a child yourself, have their spines checked for subluxations... you could prevent a life time of sickness by keeping their nervous system free of the nerve interference caused by subluxations from the very beginning.

Wellness Corner - The GOOD, The BAD, The UGLY
Here's some great tips on eating right.  Make changes slowly. Choose one to incorporate into your daily life now and when it becomes a habit, choose another one and so on.  You can do it!  Getting healthy from the inside out is well worth the effort!

THE GOOD:

1. Fiber Foods (Try to eat at least 25 g per day.  The more, the better!)

Sources: Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, beans.

· Eat fiber rich foods RAW as often as possible – RAW FOOD contains LIVE ENZYMES!

Dr. Ross recommends Juice Plus+ to fill the gap of what we should be eating and what we do.  Juice Plus+ is 17 fruits, vegetables and whole grains in capsule, chewable or gummie form.  Sugar, Salt and Gluten free. Backed by indisputable research. There's no better product for your money, than one that's PROVEN to work.

· Ideas for increasing fiber:  Washed and ready-to-eat fruits and vegetables; Add berries to morning cereal; Try veggie burgers; Use whole grain bread (Try Ezekiel bread); Use more beans; Add nuts and seeds to salads; Use brown rice; Make mega fiber muffins & pancakes; Fill a large bin with an assortment of raw nuts and dried fruit for snacking.  Take a fiber supplement. Dr. Ross recommends Juice Plus+ Thins (tasty wafers).

· Foods with little or no fiber: processed foods, processed cereal, white bread, some wheat crackers, meat, milk, eggs, and cheese.

2. Omega-3 Fats
The Best!!!!
Sources: Flaxseed (grind 1-2 tbsp.. per day in a coffee grinder), Tuna, Cod, Mackerel, Salmon, Halibut, Pumpkin Seeds, Walnuts, Alfalfa sprouts, Soybeans, Free range chicken, Free range eggs.

Dr. Ross recommends ProDHA and DHA Jr. from Nordic Naturals.

3. Unsaturated Fats (2 types – Monounsaturated, Polyunsaturated)

Monounsaturated: Almonds, Cashews, Peanuts, Pecans, Avocadoes, Canola & Olive Oil

Polyunsaturated: Sunflower Seeds, Pine Nuts, Safflower Oil, Sesame Oil, Corn Oil, Cottonseed Oil, Fish

4. Water (1/2 your body weight in ounces per day – adults at least 64 oz.)

THE BAD

Saturated Fats (“Adults should consume less than 7% per day.” Dr. Pam Popper, Ph.D.)

Sources: Beef, Pork, Poultry, Bacon, Butter, Cheese, Milk, Cream, Deli Meats, Coconut & Palm Oils etc.

THE UGLY

1. Partially Hydrogenated Fats - (Transfats)

Sources:  Any food with partially hydrogenated oil or shortening in the ingredients list; some of the following: cookies, crackers, chips, pastries, bagels, donuts, peanut butter, fried foods, coffee creamers, soups, fast food, candy, margarine, salad dressing, cereal bars etc.  (Note:  You can find transfat free cookies, crackers, natural peanut butter etc. at health food stores.  Also, try Earth Balance non-dairy buttery spread – it’s even great for baking!

2. Sugar “The Enemy”

Supresses the immune system for up to 6 hours, feeds cancer, elevates blood glucose levels, causes diabetes.

Raw Sugar goes through 17 processings

White sugar goes through 37 processings

Avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup (highly processed fructose) – very unnatural in the body

Avoid Artificial Sweeteners (Aspartame, Nutrasweet, Splenda etc.) – synthetic - The Worst!!!!!

Alternatives to White Sugar: Stevia - Xylitol (birch sugar) no processing

Raw Honey & Real Maple Syrup - no processing

Sucanat “Sugar Cane Natural” - only 2 processings- great for baking! (1:1 ratio for sugar)

Connecting to Your Source
Health and illness are multifactorial meaning that there are many things which affect our lives. In one fascinating study it was found that of 232 older patients at Dartmouth Medical School, those finding strength and comfort in their religious faith were 14 times less likely to die following heart surgery. Or conversely. they were 14 times more likely to survive. There are powerful forces within us that we can harness to improve our physical and psychological health. Among them are prayer, love, spirituality, religion, family ties, close friends – they all help us connect to the inexhaustible well within. (2)

Trans-fats
What is a trans-fat? Is it really bad for you? It seems that a number of years ago scientists with way too much free time on their hands found out that if they heated cooking oil to a very high temperature and then bubbled hydrogen through it the oil became solid. Voilà – margarine was born (shortening too). These are trans-fats. Sound unnatural? It is. But wait, it gets worse. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, consumption of trans-fatty acids doubles the risk of a heart attack, increases the risk of diabetes, and is responsible for the deaths of 30,000 Americans annually.
Udo Erasmus in Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill, writes that trans-fats interfere with vision in children, lower intelligence, interfere with liver function, affect sexual function in animals and have been correlated with increased breast and prostate cancers.
Trans-fats increase supermarket food shelf life but don’t seem to help ours. For more information on trans-fats and cooking with oils go to
www.celtic-seasalt.com. (3)

Chiropractic and spinal research
Remember, a person with any kind of health problem needs chiropractic. Feel free to forward these studies to others.

Less painkillers needed during delivery if patient under chiropractic care. A study was conducted in which chiropractic adjustments were given during pregnancy. It revealed that the need for painkillers during delivery was reduced by half under chiropractic care. This study was suppressed by the AMA because it showed chiropractic effectiveness. All pregnant patients benefit by chiropractic care which can help lessen or eliminate morning sickness and permit a more comfortable labor and delivery. (4)

Low back pain and urinary incontinence. This study comes from a medical orthopedic practice. Sixteen patients with low back pain had urinary incontinence. When surgery reduced low back pain successfully (11 of 12 patients) the urinary incontinence was cured or improved. (5)
Our comment – too bad they didn’t try chiropractic adjustments first; they most likely would have gotten better without the surgery. If you know anyone considering orthopedic surgery please have them contact our office and speak to us.

Antibiotics and ear Infections – don’t bother
Antibiotics for ear infections makes no difference in outcome. In fact there are studies reporting that antibiotics given to children actually cause more ear infections. In this study, records from 2,089 otitis media patients were examined to determine incidence and treatment success. There was no difference in success rates between antibiotic and no antibiotic therapies. (6) Ear infections? Try chiropractic first.

All the drugs and surgery give us what?
With all the drugs and surgery used by Americans you’d expect the US to have the best health in the world – after all we take more drugs and give more vaccines than any other land. However the United States Medical Care system is rated a poor seventy-second (72nd) worldwide in quality and is rated #1 as a cause of death in the US. More people are killed by medical care than heart disease, cancer and stroke with unnecessary deaths of 783,936 each year in the US.
That is why more Americans are avoiding hospitals, drugs, procedures and surgery and seeking alternative care for all kinds of health problems.

Humor
The pharmaceutical companies have finally come up with drugs that we really need.

St. Mom's Wort: Plant extract that treats mom's depression by rendering preschoolers unconscious for up to six hours.

Emptynestrogen: Highly effective suppository that eliminates melancholy by enhancing the memory of how awful they were as teenagers and how you couldn't wait till they moved out.

Flipitor: Increases life expectancy of commuters by controlling road rage and the urge to flip off other drivers.

Antiboyotics: When administered to teenage girls, is highly effective in improving grades, freeing up phone lines, and reducing money spent on make-up.

Buyagra: Injectable stimulant taken prior to shopping. Increases potency and duration of spending spree.

Extra Strength Buy-one-all: When combined with Buyagra, can cause an indiscriminate buying frenzy so severe the victim may even come home with a Donnie Osmond CD.

Anti-talksident: A spray carried in a purse or wallet to be used on anyone too eager to share their life stories with total strangers.

Bye. See you next month. Don’t forget to stop by for a spinal checkup and an adjustment. And bring in the family too – for a healthier winter!
